    Welcome to Cultural and Social Responsiveness for Educate Together Primary and Second-level Schools.              

    This section provides an overview of the module.

    Here are some important points before you begin, please read carefully:  

    • This module and its accompanying exercises can be completed individually or together with other staff.
    • Please complete ALL sections of this online training module.
    • To really consolidate your learning, make sure that you take time to pause when you need, reflect on each video and note your thoughts in relation to your own role. 
    • Please ensure you have pen and paper or access to a word editing programme, to write, keep notes and complete reflective exercises.           

    Module format and access:

    • This module is divided into three sections: 
      • Section 1: Bias
      • Section 2: Culture
      • Section 3: In Practice
    • In these sections you will find videos, resources and exercises for you to complete.
    • Each section uses Moodle Book Module format. After the initial introductory video, you will find a green book ,click on it to access the rest of the section. 
    • To move between 'chapters' in each section click the red arrows at the bottom of the page. You will find a navigation pane (Table of contents) on the right-hand side to aid you.
    • All videos have optional closed captions (CC). Please click on the CC icon to access closed captions.
    • All school or course facilitator resources have Alt Text for images. Right click the image and then click 'view Alt-Text' from your options list. Note PDF currently does not facilitate Alt Text.

    • Section 1: Bias

      Aim: In this section, you will develop an awareness of the role bias plays in relation to culturally responsive and socially responsible practice to minimise the negative impact of bias on individuals, groups and our learning communities.

      Aim: In this section you will build an appreciation for diverse cultures and the benefit of having diverse perspectives in our learning communities. Develop an understanding of why representation matters and how we can ensure our learning communities know they are seen, heard, and valued.
